BLOOMFIELD, NJ (June 11, 2007) – WBC #4 ranked middleweight contender Giovanni Lorenzo (24-0, 16 KO’s) has issued a challenge to WBC #2 ranked contender Khoren Gevor, it was announced today by Main Events CEO Kathy Duva. The winner of the bout should earn the #1 ranking and be installed as the mandatory challenger for the winner of the Jermain Taylor-Kelly Pavlick world middleweight championship bout.
“I want to fight for a world title and Gevor is standing in my way,” said Lorenzo. “Once Pavlick fights Taylor the number one ranking will be open and I’m issuing Gevor a challenge for that spot. This would guarantee me a title fight and not allow anyone to duck me.”
