Briggs-Ibragimov Ready To Go!

Shannon Briggs defends his WBO Heavyweight Title tonight against Sultan Ibragimov live on PPV from Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The two were originally set to fight on March 10th, but after Briggs came down with pneumonia the fight was postponed. Briggs is now healthy and cleared to make his first defense of his new heavyweight title.

Briggs (48-4-1, 42 KO’s) earned the WBO Heavyweight title after dethroning Sergei Lyakhovich in a lackluster, but very exciting final minute, bout in November of last year. Briggs has his name mainly known for his past fights with asthma in the past. He’s also never had the opportunity to jump into the heavyweight spotlight, like other heavyweights. Even his win in November will be more remembered for how lousy of a performance he and Lyakhovich put on. Regardless, Briggs holds the WBO Title and has Ibragimov in his sights. Taking down Ibragimov and keeping a heavyweight title in the US will help him and more importantly heavyweight boxing in the United States.
Ibragimov (20-0-1, 17 KO’s) is coming off a comical destruction of Javier Mora. Undefeated and hungry, Ibragimov hopes to bring the heavyweight title back to Russia. It’s quite an accomplishment to go twenty-one fights into a career and earn a title shot so quickly, and that’s exactly what Sultan has done. Ibragimov looks to make fight number twenty-two the most satisfying of his career and by the way he took care of Mora so quickly you can tell he’s ready.
Make sure to tune in tonight live at 9pm ET/6pm PT on pay-per-view from the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
