Both Mosley and Mora hail from the Los Angeles area with Mosley returning home and to the Staples Center for the first time since his spectacular knockout victory over then Welterweight World Champion Antonio Margarito in January of 2009. Mora, who is well known for his first place finish on the premiere season of the NBC reality series “The Contender,” isreturning to the STAPLES Center after not having fought there since his 2005 decision victory over Peter Manfredo. On September 18, Morais looking to become the first fighter of Mexican descent to defeat the future Hall of Famer Mosley.

Mosley (46-6, 39 KOs) is undefeated in two bouts at STAPLES Center against the legendary Oscar De La Hoya and Margarito. He has already earned six world titles ruling the lightweight, welterweight and junior middleweight divisions over his storied 16-year career defeating De La Hoya (twice), Fernando Vargas (twice), Luis Collazo, Ricardo Mayorga and Margarito along the way.  On September 18, his challenge will be turning back the extremely hungry and talented Mora.

Mora (22-1-1, 6 KOs) is a former Junior Middleweight World Champion hailing from East LA.  He last fought at STAPLES Center in 2005 when he scored a thrilling split decision victory over Peter Manfredo in a rematch of his final bout championship win of “The Contender.”  Going unbeaten in his next four fights, Mora began to rapidly climb the junior middleweight ranks, eventually winning the junior middleweight world title held by the late Vernon Forrest in June of 2008.  He now looks to take down a legend in Mosley and become the first fighter of Mexican descent to defeat the future Hall of Famer.

THE BIG APPLE (May 12, 2010) – “Stadium Slugfest,” the chin musical hit which will be performed live by MIGUEL COTTO and YURI FOREMAN, for one night only, Saturday, June 5 at Yankee Stadium, is already the No. 1 billboard hit of Times Square!

Foreman, the undefeated World Boxing Association (WBA) super welterweight champion is in training for his first title defense, against three-time world champion Cotto, the pride or Puerto Rico. Cotto vs. Foreman will headline “Stadium Slugfest” — the inaugural brawl at Yankee Stadium, Saturday, June 5. It will be televised live on HBO World Championship Boxing, beginning at 10:15 p.m. ET / 7:15 p.m. PT.

Foreman (28-0, 8 KOs), a 29-year-old from Brooklyn, NY, became the first orthodox Jew to win a world championship in nearly 75 years.  Born in Gomel, Belarus, and raised in Israel, Foreman eventually emigrated to Brooklyn.  The 2001 New York Golden Gloves Champion turned pro in 2002 and began studying to become a rabbi three years ago.  Foreman knocked down defending WBA super welterweight champion Daniel Santos in the final round of their November 2009 rumble in Las Vegas (ironically on the undercard of Pacquiao-Cotto) en route to a decisive and unanimous decision victory while becoming Israel’s first world champion fighter.  He is trained by Joe Grier.

Cotto (34-2, 27 KOs), from Caguas, Puerto Rico, has held a world title every year since 2004 and will be looking to extend that streak with his challenge of Foreman.  Puerto Rico’s most exciting fighter, Cotto held the World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior welterweight crown from 2004-2006, successfully defending it six times before vacating it to capture the WBA welterweight title at the end of 2006, a title he held for nearly as long.  He won his second welterweight title in February 2009, knocking out Michael Jennings in the fifth round to become the WBO welterweight champion.  He lost the title in his second defense, last November, to Manny Pacquiao.  Notable scalps on Cotto’s belt include Sugar Shane Mosley, Zab Judah, Joshua Clottey, Paulie Malinaggi, and Demarcus Corley.  Cotto is trained by Emanuel Steward.

Garcia (28-2, 21 KOs), a native of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico who fights out of Weslaco, Texas, enters this fight riding a five-year, 14-bout unbeaten streak.  Garcia possesses impressive power in both fists, where 75% of his victories have come by way of knockout and many of those stoppages produced by devastating body shots. During his impressive streak, Garcia has captured the Caribbean Boxing Federation interim welterweight title and the Texas welterweight title.

Aguascalientes organizes the largest festival held in Mexico, the San Marcos Fair, which takes place from the middle of April to the beginning of May. The celebration was held originally in the San Marcos church neighborhood, and its magnificent neoclassical garden; since then, it has greatly expanded to cover a huge area of exposition spaces, bullrings, nightclubs, theaters, performance stages, theme park, hotels, convention centers, and other attractions. It attracts almost 7 million visitors to Aguascalientes every year.

Israeli World Boxing Association Champion Yuri Foreman will run a boxing clinic for 35 children of the “Police Boxing Program for Kids”.  While Yuri Foreman has his mind set on his world title defense against Miguel Cotto at Yankee Stadium on June 5, tomorrow, he will take a break from his rigorous training to give 35 young boxers some personal trainer tips and pointers. The master class, organized in collaboration with the Israeli Consulate in NYand the NY Police Boxing Program for Kids, is intended to expose the amateur boxers to the challenges of the professional world.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to team up with the representatives of my homeland and give back to the community. Floyd Mayweather Jr virtually shut out future hall of famer Shane Mosley over 12 rounds to remain unbeaten and further distance himself as the best pound for pound fighter in the world. Mayweather (41-0) controlled the fight with his speed and power shots, seemingly landing at will. Mosley (46-6) landed two flush power shots in the 2nd round, but was unable to connect with anything from then on. After the 3rd round, Mosley was breathing heavy taking pot shots from Mayweather.

Las Vegas (April 27)…With the Mayweather vs. Mosley: Who R U Picking? mega-fight this Saturday, fans now have something extra to look forward to on fight night, as a free undercard preview will be broadcast by several satellite and cable providers, including DirecTV, Dish Network, inDEMAND and TVN.  The “free-view” will feature two of the exciting non-televised undercard fights before the pay-per-view telecast begins.  The special one and a half-hour show will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET / 4:00 p.m. PT.

The two fights included in the broadcast will be Mayweather Promotions’ fast-rising star Jesse Vargas (9-0, 4 KO’s) vs. Arturo Morua (25-13-1, 14 KO’s) in an eight round junior welterweight fight and Golden Boy Promotions’ undefeated junior lightweight prospect Eloy Perez (16-0-2, 4 KO’s) vs. Gilberto Leon (23-7-2, 7 KO’s) in a ten round NABO title fight. The free telecast will feature color commentary by “The Colonel” Bob Sheridan and Dave Botempo.

“Mayweather Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions both have young talent featured on this show that we feel deserve a chance to showcase their talent,” said Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions.  ”Both of these fights are expected to be competitive and exciting, and will be a great start to what is going to be the biggest night in boxing this year.”
