Corrales-Clottey Clash on SHOWTIME

id2_040707.jpgDiego Corrales (40-4, 33 KO’s) makes his return to the ring tonight when he takes on Joshua Clottey (30-2, 19 KO’s) live on SHOWTIME. Corrales (40-4, 33 KO’s) , known for his two electrifying fights with Jose Luis Castillo, is making the jump from Lightweight Division, 135 pounds, to the Welterweight Division, 147 pounds. The decision comes after struggling and failing to make weight in his last fight against Joel Casamyor. Both fighters know that they must win to remain in the championship picture.

A former Lightweight champion, Corrales is confident in his move up in weight and feels that he can be a big force in the Light Middleweight division. With a win over Clottey and a Jose Luis Castillo win over Ricky Hatton, boxing fans can be treated to a third slugfest between to Castillo and Corrales later this year.
Clottey is coming off a hard fought December loss to WBO Welterweight Champion Antonio Margarito. Clottey injured his hand during the fight. Many fans felt that would have won the WBO Welterweight title had it not been for the injury. Clottey looks to make another drive toward a big-time fight and to prove to the world that he is a championship caliber fighter.
Make sure to tune in to SHOWTIME at 10pm EST live (West Coast tape delayed) from the Shrine Mosque in Springfield, Missouri.
