De La Hoya Done With Trinidad, Cheering For Mayweather Jr.

Oscar De La Hoya has officially ended his attempts to set up a rematch with Felix Trinidad. Many problems arose during negotiations, mainly purse split and weight. Trinidad wants 60-40, while De La Hoya wants 70-30. Trinidad eventually settled at 50-50, but Oscar never came around to agree. When it came time to agree on weight, Trinidad refused to go below 160 and De la Hoya refused to go above 154.

De La Hoya has also stated that if Mayweather Jr. loses his fight to Baldomir, then he will just retire rather than fight Mayweather Jr. The reason, “I want to only fight the best pound for pound fighter!”
