Now that Floyd Money Mayweather has returned to the ring after a 21-month lay-off; everybody wants a piece of “Money” Mayweather. It didn’t take long for everyone to realize that Juan Manuel Marquez, one of the world’s best fighters, was over matched against Mayweather.
Some writers and observers claim that Marquez was hand picked by Mayweather and the bout was a mis-match due to the size difference of the two fighters. Some say that Mayweather was as much as 20lbs heavier than Marquez on the night of the fight. Mayweather refused to be re-weighed at the fight, a formality most fighters allow.
After Mayweathers destruction of Marquez on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Shane Mosley immediately confronted Money Mayweather on live HBO PPV, reminicient of a WWE telecast and demanded a fight. “We just want to get it on”, exclaimed Mosley.
The reality is, Mosley will have to wait in a long line of elite fighters to get his shot at the world’s best fighter. Pacquiao, Cotto, Williams and a list of nearly 10 elite fighters come to mind when thinking about potential fighters for Mayweather. Not only is Mayweather the pound-for-pound best right now, but he has the luxury of deciding who he will give the opportunity to.
