Freddie Roach Payday: De La Hoya – Mayweather Countdown

The LA Times reported that Oscar De La Hoya hired Freddie Roach for $1.3 million to train him for his upcoming match against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Floyd Mayweather Sr., who trained De La Hoya for the past seven years and is Mayweather Jr.’s father, asked for $2.0 million. De La Hoya said “I didn’t feel the same passion with Mayweather Sr. if he were to train me. I would be fighting his son.” Roach looks to earn $1.3 million in eight weeks of training camp – not a bad deal.
