HBO Boxing After Dark: Guzman Stays unbeaten, beats Soto!

Undefeated Joan Guzman (28-0, 17KO’s) welcomed Floyd Mayweather Sr. to his corner with a 12 round unanimous decision over Mexican Warrior Humberto Soto (43-6-2, 27KO’s). Guzman, who at times looked more like Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the ring, used his speed and footwork to outbox Soto throughout the fight. Although no fighter seemed hurt in the fight, the two warrior did stand toe-to-toe in the middle of the ring in rounds 2 and 7. Judges at ringside scored the bout 117-111, 117-111, and 118-110 all for Guzman. Touchgloves.com had the fight scored 115-113 for Guzman.
In an exciting undercard, Golden Boy Promotions rising start Abner Mares (15-0, 9KOs) put on a spectacular performance against Hard Nose Damin Marchiano (14-3, 5KO’s) The young bantamweight Mares through all he had at Rocky Marciano… we mean Damin Marchian, but the Argentine warrior never went down. Judges at ringside scored the bout 118-109, 118-109, and 117-109 all in favor of Mares.
Demetrius Hopkins (28-0-1, 11KO’s) nephew of Middleweight/Promoter Benard Hopkins, scored an easy 12 round decision over Enrique Colin (23-4-3, 19KO’s)
