Jermain Taylor wants $10 Million to fight Calzaghe.

Middleweight Champion Jermain Taylor told BBC Sports that he will fight Super Middleweight Champion Joe Calzaghe (43-0, 32KO’s) for $10 Million Dollars. Taylor, (26-0-1, 17KO’s) will be defending his titles May 19th against Cory Spinks.

Taylor, who dethroned Bernard Hopkins of the middleweight crown, has been critized lately for his lack of competition in the ring . Many people feel that he was given a gift when his fight with Winky Wright was declared a draw. In his next fight, he beat a much smaller and outmatched Kassim Ouma. In his latest match-up, Taylor was slated to meet Contender Champion Sergio Mora. Most boxing fans and insiders believe that most ‘Contender’ fighters are not on the same level as the top fighters, as was seen when Calzaghe defeated Peter Manfredo Jr. early this month. Mora pulled out of the bout and was replaced by Cory Spinks. Spinks (36-3, 11KO’s) is basically a bulked up Welterweight.
With the Middleweight and Super Middleweight division stock piled with good fighters including Calzaghe, Mikkal Kessler, Edison Miranda, Kelly Pavilk, it seems Taylor is picking and choosing smaller opponent.

Jermain Taylor is not all that hopkins showed that he can’t take a punch and his power is not all that if that was a younger hopkins Taylor would have gotten beat he will never beat Calzaghe to much class.
