Wladimier Klitschko (49-3, 44KO’s) avenged his earlier loss to Lamon Brewster by punishing his opponent over 6 rounds. Brewster’s trainer Buddy McGirt stopped the fight after the 6th round. Brewster (33-4, 29KO’s) looked sluggish from the opening bout, never landing a meaningful punch, while taking an enormous amount of punishment. Klitschko unveiled a new arsenal of punches, mixing in straight rights and left hooks to go along with his already devastating left jab. Klitschko averaged 72 punches per round.
After the fight Brewster gave full praise to Klitschko saying, “He had an awesome Jab.” He said there was no lingering effect from his two eye surgeries. To summarize the fight, Brewster said, “Tonight, he was the better man.”
