“Mayweather-Pacquiao Fight is Dead”, Bob Arum

Bob Arum who represents Manny Pacquiao says that the potential superfight with Mayweather is “dead.”  Earlier today, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions, who represents Floyd Mayweather Jr. said that they are willing to look at other drug testing protocols. Schaefer’s earlier statement, seemed as if the fight was back on track.  Seems like the Mayweather camp has negotiated against themselves.

In responding to Schaefer’s statement, Arum said today  “Schaefer is making it up”. It is not true, it is just not true. He is making this up now because he looks bad. He is making this up because he is trying to justify it to Mayweather. Let’s see if he can justify it to Mayweather why this fight is now dead.”

Never in the history of boxing have such drug testing demands been made.  Mayweather is the first to ask for such.  The Nevada State Athletic Commission has handled drug testing for boxing matches in Nevada for the past 40-years.  No demands have ever been made.
