The European Invasion of Boxing Continues. Wladimir Klitschko (46-3) defeated Chris Byrd (39-3-1) with a 7th round KO. Constantly using his near perfect jab, Kiltschko was in control of the fight from round one.
His assault on Byrd`s head lead to swelling under the right eye. Byrd, who was clearly outsized and outmatched, offered little resistance to Klitschko. In the 5th round, Wladimir landed a perfect 1-2 combo that floored Byrd. After a barrage on punches, Byrd was able to survive the round.
However, Byrd would again be dropped in the 7th round. After numerous lefts and right that stunned an already woozy Byrd, Klitschko landed a crushing right hook that sent Byrd to the floor. Showing the true heart of a champion, Byrd rose to his feet, but one look was all the referee needed to stop the fight.
