On Saturday night, "Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather Jr. (36-0, 24KOs) defeated Zab "Super"Judah (34-4, 25KOs) and earned the IBF Welterweight Championship. Judah began the fight looking very sharp and strong. He patiently waited to counter Mayweather while continuously moving not allowing Mayweather to land anything significant in the first four rounds. Judah’s clear strategy and counter punching caused swelling under Floyd’s right eye.

Following the fourth round, Judah stop moving as quickly and Floyd was able to take advantage while landing more meaningful shots. Floyd’s speed and combinations to the body and head began a toll on Judah resulting in a bloody nose. The nose seemed to bother Judah as he was constantly wiping his face as the blood was trickling down. The blood could easily be seen on Floyd’s white boxing gloves. As the fight progressed, Judah’s punch out-put began to decline as Floyd’s were increased and landing at a much higher rate. Final Compubox numbers had Judah throwing 444 and landing 82 (18%) while Mayweather threw 404 while landing 188 (47%). Mayweather began landing more effectively and seemed to gain momentum as the fight progressed.

Towards the end of the 10th round, in a bizarre twist, Judah landed an unintentional low-blow followed by a punch which landed to the back of Mayweather’s head. As Mayweather grimaced and limped to the neutral corner, his trainer/uncle Roger Mayweather stormed the ring and attempted to engage Judah. This incited a near riot as members from both camps who were emotionally involved charged the ring and a scuffle ensued.

Las Vegas police and security officials stormed the ring and were able to restore order after about three minutes. Referee Richard Steele had given Mayweather five minutes to rest, and by the time calm was established Mayweather had fully recovered. Roger Mayweather was ejected from the fight and has been temporarily suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission who will review the fight on Thursday and may take further action.

Rounds 11 and 12 continued with no further incident. Mayweather began taunting Judah in the 12th round as the fight ended. All three judges scored the fight in favor of Mayweather as the official cards were 116/112, 117/111, and 119/109. touchgloves.com had the fight scored 116/112.

It was announced at the postfight conference that the purse’s for the fight have been suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission pending further review.
