Quick Hits- Miguel Angel Cotto vs. Jose Luis Castillo? Mosley/Vargas in Vegas

touchgloves.com has learned that Miguel Angel Cotto has a tentative match up with Jose Luis Castillo set for November in New York City

- touchgloves.com has learned that Miguel Angel Cotto has a tentative match up with Jose Luis Castillo set for November in NYC. Both fighters must first get past prior engagements. Castillo will be facing Diego Corrales in their rubber match June 3rd in Las Vegas, while Cotto will be facing Undefeated Paulie Malignaggi New York June 10th.

- touchgloves.com caught up with “Sugar” Shane Mosley in Las Vegas this past weekend. He said his rematch with Fernando Vargas is set for July 15th in Las Vegas. This differs from previous reports that the fight was to be held in Los Angeles. Mosley (42-4, 36KO’s) won there first meeting after referee Joe Cortez stopped the fight in the 10th round due to a huge welt above Vargas’s eye that caused the eye to shut. Vargas (26-3, 22KO’s), will be looking to avenge his first lost. Many ringside observers, including one of the judges, believed Vargas was winning the fight before his eye became a problem.

- Golden Boy promotions will have its hands full in the upcoming months. Along with the Mosley/Vargas rematch in July, we’re looking at other wonderful cards. On May 3rd, the golden boy himself Oscar De La Hoya (37-4, 29KO’s) will be returning to the ring against Ricardo Mayorga (28-5-1, 23KO’s). On May 20th, Marco Antonio Barrera (61-4, 42Ko’s) will be facing Ricardo “Rocky” Juarez (25-1, 18KO’s) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. And on June 10th, in Atlantic City, NJ, Antonio Tarver (24-3, 18KO’s) will be facing Bernard Hopkins (46-4-1, 32KO’s), in what could be the last bout in Hopkins hall of fame career.
