A press conference has been announced Thursday in Youngstown, Ohio for the release of the "Mike Tyson World Tour" schedule. As many fight fans know, Tyson has been training the last 4 weeks from the Aladdin/Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas, NV, in preperation for this upcoming tour.
Can`t wait til Thursday!

Oscar De La Hoya has come out and stated that Golden Boy Promotions has in fact signed Manny Pacquiao. Oscar felt that that the rumors of Pacquiao possibly signing would be too big of a distraction for both Manny and the fight. The contract has a 7 fight deal, which includes a $300,000 singing bonus. The question is, with the way Pacquiao slugs it out every fight, can he really last 7 more fights. I guess only time will tell.

The WBC Governing Board has ordered a rematch between Sam Peter and James Toney. Peter, who came out victorious via a split decision, had become the #1 contender for the WBC Heavyweight Title. The WBC felt that a second fight would please the fans and media who became divided from the final decision. Whichever way you look at this, Peter is getting screwed on a potential title shot with Oleg Maskaev.

Hasim Rahman’s last fight against Oleg Maskaev may have been the most disappointing defeat of his career, but that’s not going to stop “Rock” from becoming Heavyweight Champion for the third time. Rahman is rumored to fight Sinan Samil Sam early next year in a possible heavyweight title eliminator match. It’s been undetermined which title Rahman will be going after.

Manny Pacquiao will become the biggest free agent out in the boxing market after his fight with Erik Morales and word is that Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions is looking to sign him. Oscar was recently in Hollywood at the Wild Card Boxing Club watching Pacquiao training with Freddy Roach for his November 8th bout. Oscar feels that he, the “Golden Boy”, and Pacquiao would be a perfect fit. De La Hoya isn’t the only person with their eyes on Pacquiao, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is also looking to sign Pacquiao. Oscar should be careful, because it’s only been a week since Juan Diaz turned his back on him, and signed with rival Arum’s Top Rank.

The New York Daily News is reporting that Bernard Hopkins is considering coming out of retirement to possibly step back into the ring. Reports state that he’s looking to fight WBC Heavyweight Champion Oleg Maskaev sometime late next year. Hopkins feels that he is the only boxer who can save the Heavyweight division for America and says that a fight would become possible if he could bulk up to 200 pounds. He looks to get in contact with trainer Mackie Shilstone, the same trainer who bulked up Roy Jones Jr. when he fought Heavyweight slob John Ruiz. Whether Maskaev is still champion by the time Hopkins is ready for Maskaev is questionable; Maskaev has a title defense in December and a mandatory fight after against Sam Peter.

In what might have been the most disappointing fight of the year, Marco Antonio Barrera narrowly defeated Rocky Juarez tonight from Las Vegas, NV. With literally once punch at a time, Barrera scored a Unanimous Decision victory, with 2 judges scoring the bout 115-113, and the third judge scoring the fight 117-111.

Puerto Rico will be rocking when Junior Welterweight Champion Miguel Cotto looks to become a champion in two weight classes when he squares off against fellow undefeated Puerto Rican Carlos Quintana for the vacant WBA Welterweight Title. Cotto, who has been inconsistent of lately, will be making his debut as a Welterweight. The fight, which is scheduled to take place in Atlantic City, NJ at Boardwalk Hall, will be shown live December 2nd on SHOWTIME.
Look for a Miguel Cotto-Ricky Hatton fight in early June, if both fighters can comeout victorious in each of their respective fights.

The last time WBC Super Featherweight Champion Marco Antonio Barrera (62-4, 42 KO’s) and Rocky Juarez (25-2, 18 KO’s) we’re in the same ring, the crowd inside Staples Center were treated to a back in forth “too close to call” fight that eventually ended in a victory for Barrera, reversing an earlier decision of a draw. This time Barrera hopes to avoid any controversy and defeat Juarez cleanly. But don’t look for Juarez to lie down so easily; he looks to take advantage of this rematch and to become Champion of the World. The crowd inside the MGM Grand Arena will be rocking tomorrow night!

The United States may have just found its next fighter to bring a championship belt back to the other side of the Atlantic! Shannon “The Cannon” Briggs will fight WBO Heavyweight Champion Sergei Liakhovich November 4th from Phoenix, AZ. The fight, which will be shown on SHOWTIME, will be held at Chase Field, the baseball stadium for MLB’s Arizona Diamondbacks. Can Briggs, and his 41 KO’s, restore red, white, and blue glory back into the Heavyweight division? We’ll all find out November 4th!

One of touchgloves.com favorite boxers Ronald "Winky" Wright has turned down $5 million dollars to have a rematch with WBC Middleweight Champion Jermain Taylor. In their first fight back in June, Winky was upset after the fight ended in a draw. He was so upset that he even skipped the post-fight news conference. Touchgloves.com had Wright winning the fight, but the final decision is all that matters. It is interesting to see who Wright will fight next. As for Taylor, he will be fighting Undefeated #1 contender Kassim Ouma December 19th in Arkansas.

The end of 2005 is going to go off with a bang! There will be more exciting fights than ever to end the most exciting year in boxing we’ve ever witnessed. The following is a list of big fights we’re all looking forward to in the upcoming months:

HBO-PPV
MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada
Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Rocky Juarez (WBC Super Featherweight Championship)

Felix Trinidad has suprised the boxing world by stating that he would fight Oscar De La Hoya again, but only at 160 pounds. These comments comes weeks after De La Hoya stated that he would fight either Trinidad or Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2007. De La Hoya has only faught once at 160; a knockout loss to Bernard Hopkins. It`ll be interesting to see who De La Hoya chooses to fight first, whether it`s Mayweather or Trinidad.

As reported last week, Evander Holyfield (39-8-2, 26 KO’s) will take on Fres Oquendo (26-3, 16 KO’s) live November 10th from San Antonio, Texas. It was rumored that the fight would take place overseas, but with Holyfield’s last fight (held in Dallas) drawing higher than expected ticket sales, Texas seemed like a great state to have Fight #2 on Holyfield’s comeback tour. I don’t know who will pay for this, but the fight will be on pay-per-view, carried by Fox Sports Net.
For those who remember, Holyfield was supposed to fight Sinan Samil Sam, but a financial agreement could never be met.
Newly crowned WBC Champion Oleg Maskaev will be defending his title before the year is over. According to Maskaev`s promoter, the fight will take place sometime in December in Moscow, Russia. Look for an opponenet to be named sometime soon.

It appears that IBF Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko (46-3, 41 KO’s) has finally found a challenger he wants. Klitschko will defend his IBF Title against undefeated Heavyweight Clavin Brock (29-0, 22 KO’s). At the post conference for the Maskaev-Rahman, Brock had stated that he wanted a title shot and had called both Maskaev and Klitschko, so it looks like he’ll get what he asked for! No official word on where and when the fight will take place, but look for Madison Square Garden and Nov. 11th as possible options.

According to Mike Tyson’s Management Company, Mike Tyson’s world wide exhibition tour schedule will be released next week. As reported earlier, Mike is spending the next 4 weeks at the Aladdin/Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada training for the tour. Touchgloves.com is currently working toward heading to Vegas where will be able to watch Mike’s training session live in person and attempt to get a 1-on-1 interview with the former champ.
On Saturday night, "the Nigerian Nightmare", Samuel Peter defeated James "lights out" Toney in a 12 round battle to capture the IBA heavyweight title infront of 9,852 fans at the Staples Center. In what was clearly a difficult fight to score, Peter gained a hard fought split decision. With the win, Peter (27-1, 22KO) now finds himself in the heavyweight spotlight and will face heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev, who recently defeated Hasim Rahman for the WBC belt.

Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton, 2005 Fighter of the Year, has dropped his WBA Welterweight Title. He plans to drop back to his original 140 pound Light Welterweight level and will fight current IBF Champion Juan Urango Dec. 9th in Atlanta. He then plans to fight Jose Luis Castillo sometime next year, after Castillo serves his suspension for failing to make weight for his fight with Diego Corrales.

James “Lights Out” Toney (69-4-3, 43 KO’s) takes on Sam “The Nigerian Nightmare” Peter (26-1, 22 KO”S) on SHOWTIME live from Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. The winner of this fight will earn a title shot against WBC Heavyweight Champ Oleg Maskaev. It will be the quick and experienced Toney against the younger and stronger Peter.

Sam Peter (27-1, 22 KO`s) came away with a split decision victory over James Toney (69-5-3, 43 KO`s) tonight in Los Angeles. With two judges scoring the bout 116-111 in favor of Peter, Peter earns himself a WBC Heavyweight Title Shot with newly crowned champion Oleg Maskaev. Touchgloves.com own K.T. was in the house tonight at Staples and will provide more analysis later.
