If Wright gets by Quartey, look for a possible big fight with Super Middleweight King Joe Calzaghe. Calzaghe’s management has made it clear that they want to fight Wright sometime in early 2007, even agreeing to fly out to the U.S. and fight in Wright’s hometown of Tampa Bay, Florida. Calzaghe must first get past Sakio Bika on October 14th.
There are rumors of an Antonio Margarito-Shane Mosley fight swirling around. Talks have just begun, with both sides talking to HBO about possibly setting up a fight between the two fighters, who are each apart of rival promotional companies. Mosley is with Golden Boy and Margarito with Bob Arum’s Top Rank.
Look for Sam Peter to get his WBC title shot against Champ Oleg Maskaev around May of next year. This will give Maskaev plenty of time to rest from his first title defense against Peter Okhello December 23rd from Moscow, Russia.
IBF Light MIddleweight Champion Cory Spinx will be apart of the under card for the Lyakovich-Briggs Heavyweight fight Nov. 4th from Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ. Spinx will defend his title against title eliminator winner Rodney Jones.
