fight in the cage for mercer will be more akward than for kimbo. he's been fighting in streets and alleys, mercer has been fighting in controlled environments. i think kimbo has the upperhand. thnx for the interview.

lol ok guys lets be real and honest with ourselves here, as my friend above as stated. We are talking about Ray Mercer here. Dont you think he knows about the publicity that this fight is gaining. You say that he is old, which is true, but he fought with people that could paralyze people like me and you with boxing gloves on........ I believe he is training hard but honestly, he dosnet have to train that hard because he dosent even have to be close to that echelon to compete as he used to have to, hes not fighting the "best of the best of the best". Hes fighting a brawler. Point blank this fight will last 2 rounds at most, with 4 ounce gloves and kimbos fight style, I give this fight 2 Ray "merciless" Mercer by a brutal K.O. that will leave kimbo using that "bread" that he fought for to get his jaw wired back into place, its going to hurt folks.

Big deal if Kimbo wins. Mercer is not a real MMA fighter nor is he anywhere near the top boxers. He is over the hill, old, fat and lazy. If Kimbo loses his future as an MMA fighter is pretty much over. I say its a lose-lose for Kimbo.

Kimbo should stick to the back-yard street fights that have made him so popular knocking mf's out cold. This could be a career killer for him both professionally and as a street fighter. Think heavyweight champs that lose the last 3 or 4 fights in their careers b/c they think they can still "bang."

I gotta give props where props is due, Kimbo be beating niggaz asses! This time around though, I truly believe that he has bitten off more than he can chew. Ray "Merciless" Mercer is definitely not a walk in the park! Mercer has been in there with some of the best heavyweights of this era. Kimbo is a classic street fighter just like Tank Abbot but what happens when he runs into someone who knows the sweet science of boxing? His big ass gets knocked out by round 3. Listen close now let me school yall on something. Remeber kimb's fight with Gannon? He gassed out! Kimbo is only good for 2 rounds aka Mike Tyson and then he's done. The first round will be nothing but bombs but Ray Mercer has taken shots from Klitscho, Lennox Lewis, Holyfield so honestly I think Kimbo is about to get a reality check. Take any professional heavyweight boxers gloves off and put an untrained fighter in front of him and chances are they will be ground beef in less than a minute as in backyard fighting does with Kimbo. Now take a trained MMA/pro boxer and put him in front of an untrained fighter and well... Kimbo is was nice watching ya on Youtube. Kimbo is finally going to fight someone who is not intimidated by his size and strength.

i understand about a trained proffesional in there against a streetfighter, i boxed competitivly since i was 12 but it surprises me how certain a lot of you are about kimbo getting his ass whooped. we all keep seeing OLD Mercer fights on the internet against holyfield&lewis. that was him in his prime MANY years ago, he is NOT the same fighter try watching his last couple pro fights. with age your reflexes timing and speed all fade sure kimbos opponents have'nt been the best but what i took from watching his fights is that he has all the basic fundamentals of boxing down he looks to be physically in his prime. Gannon was a trained professinal and was getting his ass handed to him until kimbo gassed. im not saying mercer wont win but maybe kimbo is young and hungry enough to shock some people.

Kimbo, all respect, your the man, and I think people would pay to have a burger with ya, I know I would. But reality, a trained professional in "Queensbury Rules"

On the flip side, I have seen "Golden Gloves Champs" and "Martial Artists" on the street get pounded, have done so myself numerous occasions! Grappling is where it is at. Take UFC, it was the Grapplers (Wrestlers & Ju Jitsu) that were/are pounding everyone, only recently the "Stand Up Strikers" have learned the hard way and now respecting the ground. Kimbo's own loss was to a "Amateur" MMA fighter. The Guillotine choke, took a lot outta Kimbo, the Grappling and knee strikes as well. Kimbo didnt have the energy after that. Toughest I've ever seen, but Reality?

If either of them learns some grappling its over... Street, Cage, Ring where ever!

Queensbury Rules & Stand up? Kimbo, against a trained professional that proved he is one of the best in that style IN THE WORLD? Kimbo, Im a Fan, wish ya only the best Bro, but learn some "Muay Thai" & some Wrestling! Just the basics to go with that BIG F*CKIN HEART of yours and lay waste to Mercer and shock the world! Kimbo's Advantages

1. Hes Huge. I think he's like 6'2 and 280 pounds. By the way, 280 pounds of PURE MUSCLE! Take a look at his arms and you'll see what I mean. He's in great physical condition for this fight, and I bet he's training right now.

2. He can take punches. Remember in the Kimbo VS Bryd video, where Kimbo is dominating this guy, and all of a sudden he drops his fists and yells "IS THAT ALL YOU GOT? NIGGA HIT ME!" and Bryd starts wailing on him? Kimbo didin't even slow down, he just kept walking forward while this guy threw very nice punches right on his face. Then he put his fists back up and beat the living shit out of Bryd.

3. He has heart. Above everything, I love Kimbo beacause he's a good guy. After he's done kicking ass, he usually helps his opponent up or gets him ice or hugs him or something. He's not stuck up and he doesn't even think he's all that. He's a real fighter who's ready for this fight.

Ray's Advantages:

1. He's professional. This is probably the only (and may only be the only one that matters) reason Ray Merciless has any advantage over kimbo. He knows what it feels like to get hit, and he's felt bigger hits than kimbo can throw. He knows how to dodge, throw good punches, and just be tough.

My predictions:

I predict that Kimbo will win by knockout. His strength and desire will definately put Ray on his ass.

And how can you say that hes not a professional? Just because he wasn't trained by someone else doesn't mean a thing. I'm sure he isn't clueless on any form of fighting at all, he gets paid to fight. I think they both have a pretty good chance at winning, it just depends on who gets that one hit at this point(or submission). I'm pretty sure kimbo is a tough dude, i put my money on him. He's young and hes there to win, and bank.

I think that most of you people are relatively correct. I don't have much fight experience at all, but you just have to ask yourself something. I'm 6'5 278 and I'm in roughly the same shape as Gannon...

How can you say that Kimbo gassed? Yeah he did, but you're like. "He was whoopin ass till he gassed". Uh, since you call Gannon fat and out of shape you're clearly mistaken seeing as how Kimbo dropped after the first few minutes....

Anyways, it's the best fighter who comes out on top, not the one that was losing till the other fighter gassed...you gas, you been losing the ENTIRE time...

Simple as that..Don't complain he gassed when someone "out of shape" beat him....I give total props to Gannon cause he looks like me and has the same body build...yeah, I was cheering when he beat Kimbo cause I was glad someone wasn't afraid of him for once...

I'm giving this to Mercer, Mercer been training for a lifetime...when has-been boxers lose it's to other trained professionals, not backyard boxers...I have a feeling Ray is gonna teach Kimbo how to fight better maybe...convince him to turn around and start training with real technique and less bite...

Kimbo has it hands down. I don’t know if any of you have seen the kick-boxing matches that Ray was in but it was sad. He just can't take hard blows like he used to. C’mon he is 46 years old and out of shape. This is merely for the money and nothing else. For Kimbo it is a step in the right direction toward a professional fighting Career. Being that I am from Miami, FL I support Kimbo 100% and believe that he is going to wipe the floor with Ray. Another point: Ray likes to lockup when he is tired which leaves him wide open for uppercuts, he did it with Lewis and Hollyfield, and you all know how damaging an uppercut from Kimbo is.

The match maker who put this together should win some kind of award. It is probably the most anticipated fight in years, in both the underground MMA and in the Boxing world. This is what the UFC was all about in the beginning; it has become so commercialized and watered down today, still entertaining but nothing like it was. Now this new organization, Cage Fury has taken it back to its roots. If it’s not on Pay Per View, I will have to go to it. It’s a must see event. Again, bravo to the match maker who made this happen. Someone will win by knock out, just unsure who.

Kimbo might win if Ray is out of shape, but it wouldn't heighten Kim's reputation in no way shape or form cause Mercer is nowhere near the form or shape he once was in. Kimbo is at a major disadvantage in one area and that is his straight up brawling style. That's all boxing is, training how to defend and manuever in hand to hand contact fighting and Ray has been a champion at that. If it ends early Ray has the upper hand (Kimbo is wild and sloppy at times that's o.k. for street fighting because most people you fight are the same way), but due to his age and being out of shape if it goes longer Kimbo will almost kill him

No way is Mercer going to kill Kimbo. Mercer is old and the fight will go to the ground. As soon as that happens, Kimbo's superior size, strength, and plain old age advantage will become apparent. Kimbo might stand up with Mercer for a few minutes, because thats what everyone expects. If he starts taking some heavy shots, I guarantee he will shoot Mercer and put him on the mat. Mercer won't have a shot if that happens. Kimbo by ko in the 1st round!

Mercer has fought against the best of the best, he might be old, but he ain't no joke. Kimbo has heart and can take a hit, but standing up mercer might have the better advantage, kimbo is heavier and stronger than mercer, he should get in close and take him to the ground and overpower him, mercer probably has trained ground fighting but his primary is boxing.

This one is going to be intersting... You've got a street brawler, then you have a professional that knows how to break people down. In the experience and wisdomedepartment, I had to go with Mercer.

However, Kimbo seems to be in prime physical condition. The biggest problem Mercer has is his old man lungs. Even if Mercer tried to train hard, those "old-man" lungs probably tricked him into thinking that he's worked out as hard as he did against Evander.

Surprisingly, here's the key, I think that if Kimbo waits until the 3rd round to take Mercer out he can do it. Most people would probably think that Kimbo should go in using the Old-School Mike Tyson style... But anyone that knows Mercer knows that he can punch with the best of them.

I'm from Miami, so of curse I want the home team to win. I just want my dog Kimbo to use some wisdom out there. Feel the old man out, then go for the Kill...

A so called "great" street fighter called, Joe Savage, once ventured into pro boxing. Savage was supposedly NEVER beaten in over 50 street fights and underground fights in the UK.

However, when Joe Savage stepped in the ring against a faded, Bert Cooper, it was supposed to be Savage's arrival into Boxing, Cooper didnt read the script and KO'd Savage cold inside a minute.

Reality check, Pro Boxing is a million miles from the skill level of street fighting and Kimbo will find out the hard way what Ray Mercer is about. Id be amazed if Kimbo can survive more than 90 seconds V Mercer.

Kimbo can beat pansies on the street any day. If you've seen his videos, most of those guys quit after getting hit a few times. Kimbo had his ass handed to him by the cop, because he may be ripped but doesn't have the stamina to last long. When he's in there with a guy who doesn't mind getting hit, and hits back, it'll be different . Mercer stood toe to toe with Lennox Lewis for 10 rounds. While a bitch, Lewis was a huge puncher. Mercer's been hit by Holyfield, Lewis, and Klitshko. Kimbo ain't gonna be nothing new. Mercer early. Kimo'll be back in the backyard fighting scrawny nobodies in six months.

LISTEN YOU MORONS I have yet to see "Kimbo" fight someone great. All I have seen in his internet video's is him fighting absolute simpleton losers on his video's and I can BET that I can beat the piss out of those simpleton's in his video's except gannon. I am a small guy so I admit I would have a hard time with both gannon and Kimbo however that is due to the size difference. Every moron Kimbo fought against in those video's excluding gannon couldn't fight one bit they where throwing mindless punches. I fight alot on the street (as I am part of a bike club here in Canada and one of the rules is that if anyone has a problem with you the other brothers are to stand aside and you are to deal with it 1 on 1 as it should be) I also have training in MMA for years. My point is this Kimbo has yet to face someone his size with raw talent and this matchup is so unfair Kimbo who is what 31 against a 46 year old regardless of history. Personally I think Kimbo should fight Tyson thier styles are similar they are closer in age and power and if they had a match that was to be ONLY bare fists (I think Tyson would probally do it) no grappling or holds. Now that would be a fight EVERYONE would want to watch and that would be more even and I would give Kimbo more respect if he was to win such a fight. I also would BET that if they setup that fight the way I just described they would make a fortune.............

To be honest, I haven't seen Ray Mercer fight recently. I have seen him twice in K1, where he got dominated by leg kicks from Musashi and lost by a wide decision, and against Remy Bojansky (sp?) in which he ate a high kick to the head, turned away and simply quit.

Ray Mercer's biggest assets as a pro boxer were his heart and his granite chin. He also had above average handspeed and above average power. I would still say that his chin ranks among the best, at least when he was in his prime. But after seeing the way he quit against Bojansky in K1, I'm not sure if Mercer has it in him anymore.

With that said, I've seen Kimbo's internet footages and he throws wide, smothering hooks against fighters who don't know how to defend themselves. I haven't seen Kimbo throw one decent straight right hand or even flick a respectable left jab. In fact, I've never seen him score a clean knockout where he rendered his opponent unconcious. He definitely put a beating on them, and with bare knuckles it's much easier to bust up someone's face with less force. But I don't think Kimbo has the proper mechanics to deliver a lethal knockout blow against a professional fighter of Mercer's caliber. I've never seen Kimbo throw a short, compact hook or a laser-like right cross. He's not going to be able to shoe-shine his way to a victory against Mercer.

IF, and that's a big IF, Mercer takes this fight seriously and gets in the best shape he can be at his age, Kimbo stands NO chance whatsoever in a stand-up brawl. Mercer will easily be able to exploit Kimbo's wide punches. Unless Kimbo has done some serious boxing training over the last couple of years, he can't beat Mercer. If Kimbo has not improved since the footages we've seen of him at YouTube, he stands no chance. It will be exciting to watch, but Mercer will cold cock Kimbo within the first 2 minutes of the fight and knock him out clean. Kimbo's best bet is to take Mercer down.

Another thing i want to mention is that while Kimbo seems to be a genuine, down-to-earth nice guy, his supporters are generally ignorant when it comes to the art of fighting, at least based on what I've read on this website. Those who root for Kimbo are of the variety that lacks discipline and thinks mere attitude or being filled with rage is enough to win a fight. LOL

There's a reason they use gloves in professional fighting. The biggest reason is to protect the knuckles, allowing fighters to throw MUCH HARDER punches than they would be able to without gloves. It takes a lot less force to lump up someone's face with bare knuckles, and as you pointed out Gannon's face, one would think that someone who has taken that much facial damage should not be standing. But Gannon was not even close to getting knocked out. He absorbed slapping punches from Kimbo. If Kimbo knew how to punch properly, Gannon wouldn't have remained standing long enough for his face to get that messed up. There simply wasn't enough pop in Kimbo's "hammer." And like I said before, Kimbo has NEVER knocked anyone out cold. I don't mean laying on the ground because they got hurt, most of his fights end when his opponents have had enough and just decide to take the fall rather than absorb more punishment.

Kimbo doesnt hit half as hard as the punches Mercer took from Klitschko who hits harder than prime Tyson did, or Lewis or even Tommy Morrison. How many guys has Kimbo knocked out? Only Adrayn and that was while the guys back was turned and as he lay on the ground. He hits these guys multiple times and they quit, they dont get separated from their senses, a pro boxer hitting one of these guys would send him to sleep. Im sure Even at 46 Ray will think nothing of Kimbos power compared to what he has felt before. Ray has the chin to take it but does Kimbo? He has gone down from a bouncers jab, gannons jab and really hasn been tested. Kimbo will be scared and will probably look to fight on the ground. Kimbo looke dscared at the announcement of the fight at cage rage 4, he hid behind shades and rocked about as mercer cooly stood stock still and stared him down. By the way Mercer looks much bigger than him and he isnt all pumped up useless muscle, he is naturally built.

Kimbo Slice is gunna have to start training mma style or he may loose via submission. Im a fan of him but the Sean Gannon fight was suppose to be bare nuckle street fighting which is kimbo's style. But he lost because of submission he is a big guy but is not use to that kind of style

First of all, I'm a fan of professional boxing. Been watching it since I was a kid with the likes of Alexis Arguello, Roberto Duran, and Marvin Hagler.
I know the sport. That being said, where do some of you guys get off saying Kimbo Slice has no boxing skills? True, he lacks discipline, but his stance and punching mechanics look fine to me. What, you think he's going to be showcasing his Jab in a backyard streetfight?
I especially liked the guy who suggested Kimbo doesn't hit all that hard, because he's fighting without gloves... Idiot, that Nigga is swinging for the fences, and putting his body behind it... Plus he's not afraid to go to the body, a skill many street fighters neglect to include in their arsenal. Kimbo, in fact, is a beautiful body puncher.
I love Kimbo because he reminds me so much of the young Mike Tyson. Remeber back in the pre-prison days folks, when a 20 year-old Iron Mike was taking peoples heads off in a string of first rounders? Look up some of those early knockouts on youtube... Do those swing mechanics remind you of anyone?
The only thing that concerns me with Kimbo is a serious lack of stamina and serious conditioning. On this point, I will concur with the gym rats... Kimbo does not appear to be anywhere in the same league in terms of the cardio-vascular displayed by even the youngest of amateurs. Hopefully, this is something he's working on, and he's hooked up with some serious trainers who can push him in the right direction in the gym.
I'll continue to follow Kimbo regardless of what happens, because I think the man's exciting to watch, and a fountain of un-tapped fight potential...

Kimbo got dropped by a jab from that fattass bouncer who didn't know how to correctly throw a punch. His "chin" is.... Suspect. And, yes... I did see the fight where he let the crackhead take a few free shots. "Crackhead" is the operative word.

Kimbo is street-tough, but I'd be incredibly surprised to see him beat Mercer. His only saving grace is that Mercer is an ancient relic (for fighting) at 46 years old. At least fight a has-been like Jeremy Williams who younger... Sheesh. Although, Williams is 3-0 in MMA, now.

I'm as amazed as everyone else at the Kimbo videos we have all seen, but sadly you just can't honestly expect him to win. He can bang, and he can take punches. Yet Mercer's profession is as a fighter - he trained and trained, and proved that he was the best. Sure, it was years ago, but someone of his caliber just doesn't forget everything. And in response to him being fat and out of shape: a person who has consistently trained and worked as much as Mercer did in the past has amazing muscle memory; it wouldn't take him any time to get back into the swing of things. I mean think about it: would you really expect some streetballer to beat Michael Jordan right now, given that Michael would have time to practice for the game (just like Mercer does)? No... I don't really think so.

Kimbo lost to Gannon. He was never really straight kickin' his ass. It was pretty even throughout most of the fight. Yet Gannon is one of the worst MMA fighters out there. He has fought in the UFC and just had his ass handed to him by pretty much unknowns, compared to the best people like Chuck Liddel, Tito Ortiz, Matt Hughes, etc.

Kimbo can definitely chill in the backyard and kick the shit out of pretty much anyone without professional training. Yet in a fight against a professional, and not just any, but one of the best in the world at one time, he just doesn't have what it takes.

I'm sorry - I think Kimbo is the shit, and obviously a very humble, nice, and respectable dude. Yet I really think this is a fight he just cannot win.

Has anyone seen Mercer fight in K-1? Hell, he took a kick and just quit the match! He is only doing this for the money, which is fine, I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that,but the idea that Mercer at 46 is still the same or near the same fighter as he was 10 years ago is ridiculous. Kimbo would get smacked around by pretty much any MMA fighter worth his nuts, but Mercer is NOT an MMA fighter and he's closing on 50. Either fighter has the "potential" to knock the other out just from their sheer size and strength, but Mercer winning this is a long-shot. I'd give it to Mercer everyday of the week in a boxing match, even at his age, but again, this isn't boxing.

I cant believe the guy a few post back who compared Kimbo to a young Mike Tyson, you be crazy my friend lol. He is throwing nothing like the power he should be for his weight, the pumped up biceps are a big hinderance in that, they are basically taking the power out of his punch.
He fights with emotion, anger, and is trying to load up on every punch which is why he gets tired real quick. He backs up straight back in a line, he hangs his chin out and is open for an uppercut. Kimbo is a trained fighter and as his trainers website states they are proud that he uses their teqhniques on the street, pretty poor stuff for them to brag about. But these mma trainers dont know how to box properly and thats where his style will be exposed against a real fighter.

Kimbo got stomped by Gannon in what is basically a boxing match. A small area where two guys beat the piss out of each other. Fun, entertaining, but no difference in what he is about to do. The real question is, "If it was Gannon vs Ray Mercer would we be having this discussion". I think not. I don't think he has gotten the credit for beating Kimbo that he should. Especially when his "Boys" were getting involved everytime he was about to go down. In my opinion Gannon would get destroyed by Ray Mercer, and so will Kimbo. I will be watching for this one though.

Kimbo's fights should be labeled "bare knuckle boxing" because that's the only style he is use to. Once Gannon got him in that guillotine headlock, Kimbo never recovered. He got dizzy and light headed and that's what turned the match around for him. If all of Kimbo's opponents sticked to bare knuckle boxing then I think there's no way Kimbo could loose. Just look at Gannon's face every time they showed it. Kimbo may have lost the fight because he lost the wind in his breath. But Gannon got fucked up! That's real...bitches.

A brawler versus a boxer......hmmmmmmmm.....well now Kimbo is a street fighter but his style is street boxing and not mixed martial arts so being in the MMA does not give him an advantage unless he knows how to Gracie it up in the ring. He uses boxing techniques and since that is the case Forman can get in the ring and do battle with him. Ray was not heavy wieght champion of the world at one point, because he did not know how to use his hands in the ring. If it comes to straight up boxing Ray will win, Kimbo will loose.

I thought I heard awhile back that Kimbo was training at some MMA gym in Miami? He even made a plug for them on their website saying it was like his second home. Yet in the interview he says basically he doesn't train. Anyone know anything about that?
As tough and as heavy handed as Kimbo is don't think he should run in there and throw a bunch of wild punches at Mercer. He'll end up getting countered and KO'd. I think he should do some serious BJJ training and use it to take Mercer into uncharted waters, on the ground.

Some of you guys make me laugh. Ray Mercer was not only one of the hardest hitters but also had one of the hardest heads. If I remeber correctly I think he's been knocked down twice in his whole career. Kimbo better try to take him down if he knows what's good for him otherwise that boy will go down hard and fast to sleep for about a month. This is a trained assasin, not some street brute.

Don't get me wrong I love watching Kimbo just like the rest however he better stay in the streets where he's good. Do I have to remind you of his fight with Gannon. In a boxing match or octagon he is no professional and nothing but a sideshow.

I was a top line full contact fighter for 11 years and finished my career fighting a street fighter when cage fightin first started to emerge . I was ranked 3rd in the world steping into the ring and was carried out on a stretcher and that was the end of my fightin career.
trained fighters have an advantage over the average fighter . but top line street fighters against top line trained fighters is somting i think i Cant miss .

To all you people who said Ray "quit" after one kick, you should do a little research. That "Remy Someone" was actually Remy Bojansky, 2 time K-1 World GP Champion. Download one of his highlight videos on youtube and watch how many people were sent crashing to the canvas from the same style shin kick to the temple like the one Ray copped. It's amazing that Ray was still on his feet.

Ray was a fish out of water in K-1, using only his fists against knees, punches and kicks. It's a whole different ballgame.

I'm looking forward to this one. I'd predict Ray to win though.

He's only 6'3 240+, 90% of heavy weight mma fighters are bigger.

I find this all very amusing. The idea that a street fighter, regardless of size and strength, can stand toe to toe with a trained pro is absurd. What would be the point in training for years (to become heavyweight champion of the world no less) if any fool with a little skill, size, strength and heart could whip your ass. I'm sure Kimbo would be a terror in a street game of football as well, but would anyone suggest he could play in the NFL. I also remember an old guy by the name George Foreman who dropped Michael Moorer (who was a trained champion) on his ass when he was 15yrs older and supposed to be too old and fat to compete. Kimbo is a bad-ass who on the street destroy's average people, but a former world champ who has spent the majority of his life training, is most certainly not an average person. You can take the boxer out of the gym but you can't take the skill out of the boxer. Ray would win this fight even if it was in Kimbo's backyard.

By the way, Gannon was never in trouble against Kimbo and Kimbo himself said that the better man always wins. So Gannon was the better man (and no one would believe Gannon could beat Ray). So making excuses for Kimbo's loss to Gannon, does not change the fact that he lost. And living in some dream world where street fighters beat trained pro's doesn't make it real.

One more thing. The only fighter that Kimbo has fought that has any professional training at all is Gannon. And we all saw how that worked out. Ray will knock Kimbo out in the 1st.

Enough with how old Ray is. Roger Clemens is 45, Barry Bonds is 42, George Foreman was 46 and world champ, Randy Couture is 44 and is UFC heavyweight champ, Jerry Rice played till he was 42, Jackie Slater was 43 and played 21yrs. in the NFL on the O-line. I could go on but you get the point. 46 is not that old in todays sports games. If Ray was 56 I'd agree with you but not at 46.

Lets also not pretend that Kimbo is a MMA fighter as has been suggested on this forum. He has no formal training what-so-ever. Just watch him stick his chin out and stalk his opponent with-out narrowing his body. The man is a knock-out waiting to happen. Although I would agree that if he turned pro with the UFC and trained like a pro he would be fun to watch. He does have the heart and attitude that is necessary to be good. But for now he is just an over-blown machination of the internet.

I'm not a Kimbo hater. I know raw talent when I see it. Without professional training however, he has no better chance of beating Ray than I do.

Listen, I think Kimbo may have a minimum of 10s of millions of fans around the world, literally. We should all start a blog that would instigate and ultimately be the reason behind a Tyson vs Kimbo fight hosted live on MySpace or YouTube for free, YES FREE, and the fight would make money off of advertisers for millions per minute similar to the prices for the adds during the Super Bowl. Why on the internet and why Free of charge? One, more people have the internet than cable; two, the internet is international and not hindered by language barriers; three, the views of that live fight likely be the highest in both internet and television history. Advertisers would pay millions$$$$ to advertise internationally with a headliner like that. It's possible, some news reports are broadcasted because of blogs. Take for example the murder of Latoya Figuerola here in Philly a year or two ago around the same time as that white girls murder during that high school trip in Bermuda. That was only reported repeatedly in the news because bloggers kept complaining that there was no coverage because the girl was Puerto Rican and not white like the girl who was murdered in Bermuda.

Both wanting to box and I have all the respect in the world for Kimbo but I think Mercer has the advantage in stand up but this is MMA so theres alot more elements than just boxing. I think a lot of you have some really strong views...which is great for the promoters... but honestly...This is one of those fights that we just have to wait and see what happens.

The fact is that Kimbo is a powerful, raw, and agressive fighter, which is why he has such a large online following. He may be able to have some success in a promotion like MMA if he is willing to learn and work on his fitness.

With that said, this fight will be won or lost by one man ....and that is Ray Mercer. The result all depends on the condition of Mercer. If he is, as many of you have suggested, rusty and out-of-shape, there is a good chance Mr Slice will send him packing. However if this is a Ray Mercer anywhere close to what he was during his boxing career, then there is no way Kimbo will be able to match his skills in the ring. I think Kimbo should be hoping that Mercer has infact lost a step since retiring because a debut lose in MMA will do nothing for his street-cred and may be the end of his fighting career. Also, i don't think a Mercer win helps anyone, since he's over the hill and way past his prime.

This is great work by the promoters. Mercer is a good opponent for Slice. He is a credible opponent and will test Slice, which is what the fans want. But as i said, if the Ray Mercer that turns up, in any way resembles the old Ray Mercer of 1988, Kimbo will be taken to school

Lets hope for a good 3 round fight. And like just the MMA promoters, i am hoping for a Kimbo victory.

Kimbo got dominated in the only thing close to MMA he's attempted. Gannon is a terrible fighter. After beating Kimbo the UFC gave him a fight against some can and Gannon got choked out in 20 seconds. If Kimbo couldn't beat some fat cop, he doesn't stand a chance against Mercer. All you internet worms know nothing about fighting.
