Pavlik KO's Taylor, New Middleweight Champion Crowned!

Kelly Pavlik (32-0, 29ko's) scored a spectacular knockout over Jermain Taylor (27-1-1, 17ko's) to capture the middle weight championship saturday night in Atlantic City. In an all out boxing war, that showcased boxing, brawling, and competition at the highest level, Pavlik overcame a 2nd round knockdown to 1-2 his way back into the fight. Trailing on all 3 judges score cards, Pavlik launched an all out assault in the 7th round, capped off by a series of 1-2's that left Taylor stunned. After pinning him into the ropes, Pavlik let his hands go. As Taylor collapsed to the canvas, referee Steve Smoger stepped in to stop the bout.

Mcline Steps in to Fight Peter!

NEW YORK—Heavyweight contender Jameel “Big Time” McCline (38-7-3, 23 KOs) will face newly crowned World Boxing Council interim heavyweight champion Samuel “The Nigerian Nightmare” Peter (28-1, 22 KOs) at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, Oct. 6.

McCline was supposed to meet Vitali Klitschko on Sept. 22 in Munich, Germany, but Klitschko pulled out less than two weeks before the fight. McCline subsequently agreed to fight DaVarryl “Touch of Sleep” Williamson for the North American Boxing Organization heavyweight title on Oct. 6.

Injury Bug Bites Again, Peter vs. Maskaev Postponed

Yet another fight has been postponed. The Heavy weight battle between Sam Peter and Oleg Maskaev has been postponed due to injury. No new date has been set. That will be the 4th fight this month that has been postponed due to an injury (Mayorga vs Vargas, Vlad Klitschko's return the the ring, and Marquez vs. Barios.) What was billed as a great month of boxing, has turned into a dark September.

Duva says Peter will Christen the New MSG Ring!

New York, September 20—Dino Duva, president of Duva Boxing, the promoter of WBC no. 1 contender Samuel Peter, was very emotional about the fact that the sacred Madison Square Garden boxing ring has been retired before Peter’s October 6 World Heavyweight Title fight against Oleg Maskaev, and not after the fight.

lightweight champion “Bad” Chad Dawson at ARCO Arena in Sacramento, suffered
a training injury on Thursday forcing him to pull out of the Sept. 29 match. Dangerous light heavyweight knockout artist Epifanio Mendoza (28-4-1, 24
KOs), from Barranquilla, Colombia, has agreed to replace Diaconu and will
face Dawson in the Sept. 29 main event.

Vargas vs. Mayorga Set for Nov. 23rd
