When touchgloves.com sat down with James over the summer, what was suppose to be a short Q & A, turned into an hour long conversation about everything from boxing, to cigars, to the champs opinion of UFC and the future of boxing. One thing is for certain; James Toney is among the most knowledgeable boxing minds I have ever been around.

Juan "The Baby Bull Diaz" started punching in round one and didn't stop until Julio Diaz was unable to answer the bell in the 9th round, scoring a TKO over his Mexican Counterpart in Chicago. Juan Diaz (33-0, 17KOs) said after the fight, “I thought Julio was going to box me more but he came to fight. That surprised me. I was able to lure him into my kind of fight, a toe to toe action fight. Julio had decent power which also surprised me." But Julio's power was not enough. After the fight, Julio Diaz (34-4, 25 KOs) said, “I couldn’t get started tonight. Juan has a lot of energy. I tightened up when I tried to overpower him. Juan’s a hyper kid with a lot of heart."
When asked about his future, Juan said he would like Manny Pacquiao to move up in weight and challenge him for his title. Said Diaz, "It’s great if Pacquiao moves up to the lightweight limit of 135 pounds. I’d like to show my talents against a fighter of his skills. Pacquiao just fought an older Mexican warrior. Now he ought to fight a young Mexican warrior like me."
In a dismal performance by the former four-time heavyweight champion, Evander Holyfield loses nearly every round to WBO Champion Sultan Ibragimov in Moscow today. Holyfield coming off a streak of wins during his comeback, couldn't put together combinations, looked slow and often disoriented. Ibragimov, age 32 looked faster, sharper and was able to move around and land his punches at will.
Offical Scorecards: 118-110, 117-111, 117-111 (all judges were from the US)

Boxing's biggest star can shine a little brighter tonight. Manny Pacquiao (45-3-2, 35KO's) defeated Marco Antonio Barrera (63-6, 42 KO's) over 12 rounds to retain his WBC Super Featherweight title. The fight was hyped as Pac- Berrera two, but offered little to match the first matchup. Pacman looked sharp from the moment the fight started. His speed advantage was obvious over the Mexican legend. Judges at rindside scored the bout 118-109, 118-109, 115-112. To paraphrase Jim Lampley, Manny Pacquiao continues his quest to conquer all Mexican fighters, sending his second Mexican legend into retirement.
