FIGHT PREDICTIONS Archives

As a fan of boxing, I have the utmost respect for Floyd Mayweather Jr. He IS the greatest pound for pound boxer on the planet today. Behind his "Money Mayweather" persona, there is Floyd Sinclair. That is where you will find the real Floyd. A likable, approachable, young man who feeds the hungry during the Holidays. He has the looks, the charisma, and the talent to back it up. He truly is among the greatest fighters of our generation.

"There's only One Ricky Hatton"
I have been following and talking about Ricky Hatton's since 1999. I've been telling friends and family that he is the real deal. He's always been a likeable person and he's fun to watch. If anyone has a chance to beat Floyd, it's Ricky. I have never seen someone bring so much furositiy to the ring. For those who say he is just like Arturo Gatti and Carlos Baldomir, you are wrong. He does not trod around the ring throwing wild punches. His bulldog style smothers his opponents offense. And when he's on, he has some of the best footwork in boxing.

Although most boxing experts choose Mayweather in a cake-walk, I do not. Hatton has a chance. Although he looked shabby against a slick opponent like Luis Collazo, Hatton has a real chance against Mayweather. He has a punchers chance. He comes to the ring with hope. The same hope you and I have every morning we wake up. Hope to over come the odds. Hope to succed beyond our limitless abilities. Ricky has a true belief that he has the strength in him to overcome the seemingly impossible.

Ricky will will not because of his boxing skill, not because of his hellacious body punches,(although they will help) but because of his Heart. Backed by thousands of fans in Las Vegas, and an entire Nation across the sea, Ricky has to win. Maybe when Ricky looks up to the moon tonight, he'll see that it has turned to gold, Championship Gold.

Vegas lines after the weigh-in: Wright (-150) vs. Hopkins

May 5th is here and the exclusive touchgloves.com predictions are in.

R. Maiker: Mayweather is younger and faster. He certainly has the natural athletic advantage and conditioning edge. Most boxing experts have predicted a Mayweather win. I however, have a different approach. Mayweather has a history of having hand problems. I predict Mayweather hurting his hand preventing him from landing his signature overhand rights and combinations. Oscar has the big-fight experience and has come into this fight in the best shaped I've ever seen him. Oscar has a big left hook and will stop Mayweather if he can land it. I predict a De La Hoya Knock-out in the 9th round.

Korosh: Mayweather has the advantage in ever single category except big-fight experience and power. My heart says Golden Boys power and experience will be too much. De La Hoya win.

Farz: 116 - 112 for Mayweather. Mayweather will avoid the left hook and box his way to victory.

banner-3.jpgThis weekend could be one of the best boxing weekends in recent history. Two of the most exciting boxers will be fighting on the same card as Manny Pacquiao and Jorge Acre headline a spectacular card in San Antonio, Texas. Half way around the world, the Russian Giant, Nikolai Valuev will try to keep his winning streak alive again heavyweight contender Ruslan Chagaev.

Nikolai Valuev vs. Ruslan Chagaev

Rayne: Valuev by 6th Round KO. He's just too big and strong. Tune up fight for a major bout later this year.

Korosh.: The Russian Giant will continue on his road to History. This man is just a freak of nature. Even with Average boxing skills, he will rise to the top. Not sure if there is anyone who can stop him. Valuev by Knockout in the 3rd.

Manny Pacquiao vs. Jorge Solis

Rayne: Pacquiao by 2nd round Knockout. He's too strong and too fast. You're talking about the world's best fighter against a relative unknown.

Korosh: Pacman by knockout in the 7th. The world's most exciting fighter has more big fight experience. He's also considered one of the best for pulling through in big fights. Manny is peaking and i'm not sure anyone can match him.

Jorge Arce vs. Cristian Mijares

Rayne: Arce by 4th round knockout. The Most exciting fighter in boxing will show us why we love to watch him fight

Korosh: Arce by 8th round TKO. This one will be one of the best fights of the year. Expect violent exchanges in the center of the ring, with Arce coming out on top.

Brian Viloria vs. Edgar Sosa

Rayne: Vilora by Decision.

Korosh: Vilora by knockout. This young man will be the future Manny Pacquiao. He has an exciting style and is now more determined than ever. With Joe Goosen in his corner, the killer instinct in him should come out. Keep an eye out for this kid. He's fun to watch.

banner-3.jpg The eagerly awaited fight predictions for this weekends big fights are in. Feel free to leave a comment with your predictions below. Remember HBO will televise Peter Manfredo v.s Joe Calzaghe, shown live at 5pm/ET and once again replay at 10pm/ET. Showtime will show Diego Corrales in his debut at the welterweight division against Joshua Clottey. The Corrales fight will begin at 10pm/ET on Showtime.

Joe Calzaghe v.s. Peter Manfredo (HBO)

Farz B. - Unanimous Decision for Calzaghe. I think Manfredo lacks big fight experience and the hometown crowd will be a big factor for Calzaghe. Manfredo will put up a great fight, but in the end, Calzaghe will come up victorious.

Korosh - In a shocking upset, Manfredo by KO. I think Calzaghe is looking past Manfredo. The Contender realizes his dream.

R. Maiker - I usually like to go with the underdog but Calzaghe is too experienced. Hometown advantage for Calzaghe, big fight credentials, speed and power all in favor of Calzaghe. I will be rooting for Manfredo, but I predict Calzaghe by TKO.

Diego Corrales v.s. Joshua Clottey (SHO)

Farz B. - Corrales by 7th round TKO

Korosh - Corrales will have the same trouble as Ricky Hatton by moving up in weight. Corrales will however pull through the victory.

R. Maiker - Corrales will come out guns blazing. He should be ok moving up in weight. Corrales will let his hands go. Corrales by TKO.
