Soklin’s Corner: Klitschko May Be My New Favorite Fighter
Wladimir Klitschko has what many boxing fans want, not a bubbly personality, or golden boy appearance, Klitschko has the ability to knock out any fighter with one punch at any time. The way I see it there are two types of boxing fans; the fans who love the sport, they understand the sweet science and are impressed by a boxer’s speed, agility and ring awareness. The other type of fan, the type I fall into, enjoys the big hit, the violence of the sport and the anticipation of the one big punch.
Bernard Hopkins Movie in the works!
touchgloves.com was fortunate to be at the Javier Mora-Sultan Ibragimov fight last night, with our very own Tim “Timbo” Diener in attendance covering the main event live from the Madison Square Garden Theatre in New York City. Also in attendance was Bernard Hopkins, who was kind enough to speak to touchgloves.com. Hopkins revealed that there are plans to make a biographical movie based on his life in the near future. So who will be playing the “Executioner”? Hopkins revealed that plans are for none other than rapper-turned-actor Jayceon Terrell Taylor, aka “The Game”, to play the lead role.
As for his boxing career, Hopkins will take on Ronald “Winky” Wright on July 21st. A location has yet to be named.
Ibragimov Wins In Under One Minute!

Sultan Ibragimov needed only 46 seconds to defeat Javier Mora. Ibragimov (20-0-1, 17 KO’s) knocked Mora down with a left hook to start the fight. Mora (21-4-1, 17 KO’s) would make the count but was pummeled quickly after and knocked down again, forcing the referee to stop the fight. Ibragimov was slated to fight WBO Heavyweight Champion Shannon Briggs, but Briggs was forced to back out after coming down with pnuemonia. A fight could come as soon as May, depending on how quickly Briggs becomes healthy.
Klitschko Destroys Austin

Klitschko Wins Coin Flip, Fight Still On!
Wladimir Klitschko will defend his IBF Heavyweight Title tonight against number one challenger Ray Austin live from Mannheim, Germany. After 24 hours of trouble between both camps on which gloves would be used, there was a coin flip, and Klitschko came out victorious. Both fighters will now use Reyes boxing gloves. Klitschko may have won this battle, but the war has just begun.
Klitschko-Austin Fight To Be Cancelled?
Wladimir Klitschko’s IBF Heavyweight title defense against Ray Austin appears to be in jeopardy. A dispute over the gloves Austin must wear for the fight has both sides upset and could force the fight to be cancelled. Because an agreement on which gloves the fighters would use was never reached in the contract, the rules (in Germany) state that the champion picks which brand will be used in the fight. Austin is unhappy, Klitschko appears to be unhappy, and both promoters are unhappy.
Shouldn’t this have been worked long before the night of the fight? I personally don’t see how this fight can be cancelled and don’t think it will.
