Oscar De La Hoya has come out and stated that Golden Boy Promotions has in fact signed Manny Pacquiao. Oscar felt that that the rumors of Pacquiao possibly signing would be too big of a distraction for both Manny and the fight. The contract has a 7 fight deal, which includes a $300,000 singing bonus. The question is, with the way Pacquiao slugs it out every fight, can he really last 7 more fights. I guess only time will tell.

Oscar was recently in Hollywood at the Wild Card Boxing Club watching Pacquiao training with Freddy Roach for his November 8th bout. Oscar feels that he, the “Golden Boy”, and Pacquiao would be a perfect fit. De La Hoya isn’t the only person with their eyes on Pacquiao, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is also looking to sign Pacquiao. Hopkins Wants Maskaev!

The New York Daily News is reporting that Bernard Hopkins is considering coming out of retirement to possibly step back into the ring. Reports state that he’s looking to fight WBC Heavyweight Champion Oleg Maskaev sometime late next year. Hopkins feels that he is the only boxer who can save the Heavyweight division for America and says that a fight would become possible if he could bulk up to 200 pounds. He looks to get in contact with trainer Mackie Shilstone, the same trainer who bulked up Roy Jones Jr. when he fought Heavyweight slob John Ruiz. Whether Maskaev is still champion by the time Hopkins is ready for Maskaev is questionable; Maskaev has a title defense in December and a mandatory fight after against Sam Peter.
