Kelly Pavlik (32-0, 29ko’s) scored a spectacular knockout over Jermain Taylor (27-1-1, 17ko’s) to capture the middle weight championship saturday night in Atlantic City. In an all out boxing war, that showcased boxing, brawling, and competition at the highest level, Pavlik overcame a 2nd round knockdown to 1-2 his way back into the fight. Trailing on all 3 judges score cards, Pavlik launched an all out assault in the 7th round, capped off by a series of 1-2’s that left Taylor stunned. After pinning him into the ropes, Pavlik let his hands go. As Taylor collapsed to the canvas, referee Steve Smoger stepped in to stop the bout.
