Quick Hits: Rahman fight Delayed, Morales returning in August

Former WBC Heavyweight Champion Hasim Rahman return to the ring has been moved to June 14th against Hard hitting Taurus Sykes. Rahman (41-6-2, 33 KO’) hasn’t faught since he was knocked out, for the second time, by current champion Oleg Maskaev in August. Sykes (25-3-1, 7 KO’s) only big fight of his career was a second round knockout loss to Sam Peter in 2005. The fight will take place in Rochester, New York at the Main Street Armory.

– Erik Morales looks to earn his title in a fourth weight class when he takes on current WBC Lightweight Champion David Diaz on August 4th. Morales (48-5. 34 KO’s) is best known for his trilogy with Filipino sensation Manny Pacquiao. Diaz (31-1-1, 17 KO’s) is a slick southpaw who has had a successful career, holding the IBA Lightweight Title for the last two years before winning the WBC title in classic fashion; knocking out Jose Armando Santa Cruz in the tenth while trailing the fight on all three judges scorecards. No location has been named for the site, but rumors have Chicago and Los Angeles at the top of the list.
– Leila Ali continues to fair well as a contender on Dancing with the Stars. She staved off elimination this week after ‘Cheers’ mailmanJohn Ratzenberger was voted off. Ali is one of two athletes remaining in the competition. The other is speed skater Apollo Anton Ohno. Only five couples remain!
