Quick Hits: Vargas, Mayorga, Pacquiao, Brock, And More

A matchup between Fernando Vargas and Ricardo Mayorga is becoming close to reality. Word is spreading that a fight slated for the summer will take place in Southern California, likely the Honda Center in Anaheim. It was rumored that the fight would take place on May 5th, the same day as the DLH-Mayweather fight, but that’s seems doubtful, since most fans will be watching the Pretty Boy take on the Golden Boy


Manny Pacquiao is scheduled to fly into Los Angeles this week and start his training Saturday at Freddie Roach’s “Wild Card Boxing” gym. Pacquiao is scheduled to fight Victor Solis on April 14th in San Antonio, Texas. Also on the card is Flyweight fan favorite Jorge Arce. Arce will take on Cristian Mijares for the WBC Super Flyweight Belt. Also on the card is Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Brian Vilario. Should be a great night of boxng!
Calvin Brock is making his return to the ring this Saturday night in Texas. Brock, who is coming off a brutal knockout loss to Wladimir Klitschko, will be fighting on the undercard of the Evander Holyfield-Vinny Madelone fight. Brock will take on heavyweight jobber Ralph West, his first step in making his way back up the heavyweight ladder.
Erik Morales is making a move up in weight classes in hopes of becoming champion in a different division for the fourth time in his career. Morales is rumored to be taking on WBC Lightweight Champion David Diaz. The fight is set to take place on June 30th in Las Vegas, Nevada.
