Roy Jones Jr. v.s. Jermaine Taylor – September 21st!

PENSACOLA, FL, APRIL 6 – Former Pound-for-Pound King Roy Jones Jr. revealed on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights that he is expecting to take a tune-up fight in June, followed by a Middleweight Championship against current undisputed Champion Jermaine Taylor on HBO. HBO has a September 21st 2007 date reserved for the meeting between the two.
Jones Jr. said that the potential match-up with Anthony Hanshaw fell apart because he did not want to have Gary Shaw promote his fight and that it had nothing to do with Hanshaw. “Hanshaw can come down to the Gulf in June and I’ll pay him what he was going to get paid and we can fight” said Jones Jr.
If the fight with Taylor takes place, Jones Jr. will be coming down to the Middleweight division where he has not fought in over ten years.
