DETAILS:

The main event will feature Las Vegas prospect Sharif Bogere (19-0, 12 KO’s) taking on Hollywood’s “Sugar” Raymundo Beltran Jr. (24-4, 16 KO’s) in a 10-round battle for the vacant NABO lightweight title. Uganda-born Bogere is a five-time African champion that has been on the fast track to a world title. Los Mochis, Mexico native Beltran Jr. is a veteran of the sport with more than 11 years of experience and currently holds the USBA lightweight title.

Also featured will be Seth “Mayhem” Mitchell (21-0-1, 15 KO’s) taking on Nicaraguan native Evans “The Sandman” Quinn (20-5-1, 18 KO’s) in a 10-round heavyweight battle. Mitchell has captivated fans since 2008 when the former star linebacker for Michigan State University traded in the pads for gloves and began his boxing career. Possessing concussive punching power with both hands, Quinn is a dangerous fighter with a 90% knockout rate. Given the punching power of both of these heavyweights, this figures to be a fight that will keep fans on their feet.

The event, which is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Corona and DeWalt Tools, will take place on May 13 in the Star of the Desert Arena inside Buffalo Bill’s Resort & Casino. LOS ANGELES, September 29 – Following a triumphant return to the East Coast this July, junior welterweight contender and former World Champion Zab “Super” Judah returns to Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday, November 6 to take on one of his toughest tests to date in Argentinean knockout artist Lucas Matthysse in a battle for the NABO junior welterweight title.

Brooklyn, NY (September 28, 2010) – Golden Boy Promotions just added a little more magic to its already stellar lineup of fighters as the company announced today that an agreement has been reached to promote former World Champion Paulie “Magic Man” Malignaggi. Malignaggi, who will begin his assault on the welterweight division under the Golden Boy banner, will also serve as one of the company’s “ambassadors” to New York, assisting in the promotion of events in his hometown in conjunction with Golden Boy’s recently announced deal with The Barclays Center in Brooklyn. “A date, site and opponent for Malignaggi’s first fight with Golden Boy Promotions will be announced soon.

He has challenged and gone toe-to-toe with some of the best in the business, earning him respect around the boxing world. Mayweather Rejects Offer from Pacquiao – Fight is off

In what is becoming more of a soap opera than a negotiation between two of the best fighters in the world, Floyd Mayweather Jr., through his promoters Golden Boy Promotions rejected a final offer to fight Manny Pacquiao on March 13, 2010.

Mayweather and his team had made unprecedented requests of Pacquiao to have random blood and urine tests; something that has never before been done in boxing. Pacquiao agreed to have blood drawn, twice before the fight and once immediately after. Mayweather rejected that.

Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter said yesterday that the fight is dead. He had already started negotiations with Paulie Malignaggi and that fight will now happen on March 13, 2010, instead of Pacquiao-Mayweather.

As reported here first, there was just too many hurdles in the negotiation process to get over to make the fight happen in March. Richard Schaefer, Golden Boy Promotions CEO and Mayweather’s promoter perhaps made a fatal mistake in the negotiations. This is not a super-fight, this is The Super-Fight. Schaefer and Mayweather’s demands went to the extreme. Maybe they thought they can push Arum and Pacquiao around. Schaefer is known to be a sharp businessman and excellent negotiator. One thing is clear, Schaefer should have had the foresight to see this coming. Instead he pushed further and negotiated against himself and against his fighter, Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

Mayweather Out Malignaggi In for March 13, 2010 Pacquiao Bout

Since the recent negotiations between Mayweather and Pacquiao have hit a snag, Bob Arum of Top Rank has offered current NABO Champion Paulie Malignaggi the date of March 13, 2010 to face Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The super-fight between Mayweather-Pacquiao would be the highest grossing boxing match of all-time, however both sides have drawn a line in the sand. Malignaggni just came of a big win over prospect and rising star Juan Diaz.

One has to ask whether this is all posturing for negotiations or not. One thing is clear, if both sides continue to disagree and not finalize a deal, there will be no realistic time to promote a fight of this magnitude.

Mayweather Destroys Marquez

He’s Baaaaacck. After a 21 month layoff, Floyd Mayweather Jr. returned to the ring with the destruction of Juan Manuel Marquez. In one of his most domination performances to date, Floyd “Money” Mayweather completely took apart the Mexican Warrior 12 punishing rounds. The fight, held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, was Mayweather’s first fight in 21 months, but the pound for pound king had no ring rust. Immediately, Mayweather’s size, speed and power were obvious.

In round two, Mayweather sent Marquez to the canvaz with a devestating left hook. The rest of the fight looked like an easy sparring session for Mayweather, who constantly battered the smaller man with jabs and straight rights. Mayweather improved his record to 40 wins, 0 Losses, 25KO’s. Marquez record falls to 50 wins, 5 Losses, 1 draw, 37 KO

With this domination performance, Mayweather clearly can reclaim his top stop as the pound for pound king.

On a snoozer of an undercard, Chris John defeated veteran Rocky Juarez and Michael Katsidis defeated Vincente Escobedo with a 12 round decision. Both fights had very little action, with John outworking Juarez for the win. Juarez did come on strong with 1 min left in the 12th round, but it was too little too late. John retained his WBA Featherweight title.
