Wladimir Klitschko donates 100 Tickets to Boys and Girls Club

IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko recently presented 100 tickets to The Boys & Girls Club of Venice, Calif., for his brother Vitali’s upcoming WBC heavyweight title defense against Cristobal Arreola this Saturday, Sept. 26, at STAPLES Center.
The tickets were donated by McFit, Germany’s leading and most popular chain of fitness centers.

Tickets for Saturday’s event can be purchased at STAPLES Center, all TicketMaster outlets, by phone (800) 745-3000 and online at www.ticketmaster.com. The 12-round world championship will be promoted by K2 Promotions in association with Goossen Tutor Promotions. It will air on HBO at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.Doors open at 4 o’clock PT.

Fernando Vargas’s final fight could be a wild one. Vargas, the former Light Middleweight Champion, is set to square off against former Light Middleweight champion Ricardo Mayorga September 8th from the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, CA. Vargas and Mayorga will fight at a catch weight of 162 pounds. Mayorga was recently arrested in Nicaragua on suspicion of fraud. Both fighters are coming off big fight knockout losses.

- Antonio Margarito will have more pressure than usual in his fight Saturday night in Los Angeles against Paul Williams. If victorious, Margarito is set to take on WBA Welterweight Champion Miguel Cotto later this year. More than likely to take place in New York, Margarito will certainly earn the biggest payday of his career.
- Evander Holyfield may be one step closer to unifying the heavyweight championship titles. Word is spreading that Holyfield, who is coming off an impressive victory over Lou Savarese, is expected to earn a title shot against IBF Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko. Klitschko, who defeated Lamon Brewster Saturday night, is far from getting the unification fight he’s been hoping for. With a lack of talent left in the division, Holyfield may be the only big name left for Klistchko to fight.
- Roy Jones Jr. returns to the ring this Saturday night when he takes on Anthony Hanshaw live from the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, MS. Jones is listed as a 3-1 favorite to defeat the dangerous Hanshaw. A Jones victory could set up an intriguing match-up, pitting Jones against former Welterweight Champion Felix ‘Tito’ Trinidad. The two would meet in early 2008.

WBC Light Heavyweight Champion Chad Dawson told touchgloves.com that he expects to be back in the ring sometime in early June. No location or opponent have been announced yet, but former champion Glen Johnson or the winner of the Rico Hoye/Adrian Diaconu eliminator bout have been rumored. Dawson (23-0, 15KO’S) won the title after defeating Tomasz Admek last February.

- The undercard for the Jermain Taylor/Cory Spinks fight on May 19th is beginning to take shape. Heavy hitter Edison “Pantara” Miranda (28-1, 24KO’s) will take on Undefeated American Kelly “the ghost” Pavilk (30-0, 27KO’s) in a WBC title eliminator. Both of these young fighters have there eyes set on the winner of the main event. Also on the card, Vernon Forrest (38-2, 28KO’s) will be in action as well as son of legendary boxer Thomas “the Hitman’ Hearn, Ronald Hearns (13-0, 11KO’s)
